Review page copy modes
The Copy section of Review page branding decides what the customer reads on the pages your review link leads to. There are three modes, and picking the right one takes about a minute. Filling in custom text takes longer.
The Review page branding panel shows an upgrade prompt on a free account. Free review pages use the default Trustaroo wording.
The three modes
Under Copy, choose one:
Default (Trustaroo) uses the standard Trustaroo wording. It is neutral, it is already translated, and it works. Leave it here if you have nothing specific to say.
Preset (sector-specific) uses wording written for a sector. You choose one under Preset sector and Trustaroo does the rest. This is the best value for effort: sector wording asks about the thing the customer actually did, such as their meal or their appointment, instead of a generic "experience". See Industry presets for your review page.
Custom gives you every line to write yourself. Use it when your business has a voice you want on the page, or when neither preset fits what you sell.
Which fields each mode shows
| Mode | What you can change |
|---|---|
| Default | Nothing. |
| Preset | The Preset sector. |
| Custom | The Preset sector plus the full set of Custom overrides. |
Filling in custom copy
Select Custom and a Custom overrides block appears, grouped by screen. Start by choosing a Preset sector and selecting Prefill from preset: that fills every field with the preset text so you edit finished sentences instead of facing empty boxes.
The fields, in the order they appear:
Review page, the screen with the stars.
- Custom title
- Custom subtitle
Feedback page, shown to a customer who rates you below your threshold.
- Title
- Subtitle
- Input placeholder, the grey hint inside the comment box
- Submit button text
Feedback thank you page, shown after they send that private comment.
- Title
- Subtitle
Redirect (public review) page, shown to a customer who rates you at or above your threshold, before they continue to Google or Trustpilot.
- Title
- Subtitle
- Continue button text
Then save the business profile page.
The hint at the bottom of the block says it directly: custom copy is used for all languages. Whatever you type is shown to every visitor, whether their phone is set to Dutch or English. Default and preset wording, by contrast, already exists in both languages.
Prefill from preset overwrites the custom fields with the selected preset's wording. Use it as your starting point before you start editing, not after.
Which screens a customer actually sees
Nobody sees all four. The review filter splits the path after the rating:
- A rating at or above your star threshold leads to the redirect page and then out to your public review site.
- A lower rating leads to the private feedback page and then the feedback thank-you page.
So the review page and its title are read by everyone, and the other three by roughly whichever share of your customers falls on each side of the threshold. Put your effort into the review page first.
Switching modes later
You can move between modes at any time. Custom text you have typed is kept when you switch to Default or Preset, so going back to Custom brings your wording back rather than starting from blank fields.
If you are unsure whether your new wording is an improvement, change one screen, leave it a couple of weeks and watch the dashboard. Completion is easier to judge than opinion.
