Set your location defaults

The Location Defaults panel holds the three settings that decide what happens after a customer rates you: where happy customers go, whether the review filter runs, and at which star rating it hands people over. Setting them takes two minutes and every location inherits the result.

Before you start

Have the full URL of your public review page ready, including https://. See Find your Google review link or Find your Trustpilot review link.

Steps

  1. Select Profile in the navigation, then Location Defaults.
  2. Fill in Review page URL. Paste the whole address, starting with https://. Trustaroo rejects anything without a scheme with the message "Please enter a valid URL (including http:// or https://)."
  3. Decide on Enable review filter. On, customers rate you first and are routed by that rating. Off, everyone who opens your link is sent straight to the review page URL with no rating step.
  4. Set Referral threshold by selecting that many stars in the rating control. The default is 4, which sends 4 and 5 star ratings to your review page and 1 to 3 star ratings to the private feedback form.
  5. Select Save at the top right.
Off means no ratings at all

With the review filter switched off, Trustaroo stops asking for a star rating, so your dashboard records the visit but no rating and no written feedback. Only switch it off if you genuinely want a plain redirect service. See How the review filter works.

What "default" means here

Each of these three settings is a fallback, not a rule. A location that leaves a field empty uses the value from this panel; a location that fills it in ignores this panel for that setting alone. The panel says as much in its own info box: settings apply to locations that do not have their own values configured.

That gives you three useful patterns:

  • One review destination for everything. Fill in the URL here and leave every location alone. Best for a single site, or for a chain where all branches share one Google profile.
  • A house default plus exceptions. Set the head-office URL here, and override just the branches that have their own Google listing. See Per-location overrides.
  • A different threshold per branch. Keep 4 stars as the default and raise or lower it where the service is genuinely different, such as a takeaway counter versus a restaurant.

Choosing the URL

Point this at the page where a customer can actually write a review, not at your website and not at your Google listing's read-only view. On Google that is the short review link from your Business Profile; on Trustpilot it is your evaluate page. If you send people to a page that does not open a review box, they arrive willing and leave without doing anything. Test it once with Test your redirect.

Changing the URL is safe for printed material

The review page URL is not part of your short link, so switching from Trustpilot to Google, or from one Google profile to another, does not invalidate a single QR code you have already printed.

The threshold in one sentence

The referral threshold is the lowest rating that still counts as happy. Four is the usual choice; Choosing your star threshold covers when 3 or 5 makes more sense and what each choice costs you.
