Add your review QR to Apple Wallet

Trustaroo can generate an Apple Wallet pass for each location. The pass carries the same QR code as your printed material, so anyone with the pass on their iPhone can hold up the code for a customer to scan. Downloading and installing it takes about two minutes.

Steps​

You can also download the pass as Option 3 on the onboarding completion screen. From the app later:

  1. Sign in at my.trustaroo.app and open your business profile.
  2. Scroll to the Locations panel and find the row for the location.
  3. Select Add to Apple Wallet. Trustaroo generates the pass and downloads a .pkpass file named after the location's short id.
  4. Get the file onto the iPhone that will carry it. AirDrop from a Mac, an email attachment or a shared drive all work.
  5. Tap the file on the iPhone and confirm the prompt to add it to Wallet.

Trustaroo confirms the download with the message "Apple Wallet pass downloaded. Open the file on your iPhone to add it to Wallet."

Language follows your app language

The pass text is generated in English or Dutch based on the language you are using Trustaroo in. To hand out a Dutch pass, switch your language to Dutch before you download it.

What is on the pass​

The pass is a generic Apple Wallet pass, not a loyalty card or a ticket. It shows:

  • Your business name next to the logo.
  • "Leave us a review!" as the front headline (or your custom headline, up to 40 characters).
  • The location name when the location is set to show one.
  • Your logo when you upload one, otherwise the Trustaroo logo.
  • A QR barcode that encodes the location's short link (no URL text under the code).
  • On the back: how-to-use instructions (or your custom back text), the full link and a "Powered by Trustaroo" line.

Scanning the barcode does exactly what scanning a printed QR code does. The customer lands on your review page, picks 1 to 5 stars, and is then routed by the review filter.

Customize the pass​

Open Business profile → Apple Wallet pass to change how every location pass looks:

  1. Start from a color preset (Brand, Soft, or Slate), then optionally fine-tune background, text and label colors.
  2. Optionally set a short front headline (max 40 characters). Leave it empty to keep the default English or Dutch text based on your app language.
  3. Optionally set longer copy for the back of the pass.
  4. Upload a logo for the front of the pass, or use your review page logo when Premium branding is active.

Save your changes, then download the pass again from the Locations panel. Apple Wallet does not update an already-installed pass automatically, so staff need the new .pkpass file.

Notification and lock-screen icons stay Trustaroo even when you upload a custom logo.

Apple Wallet only

There is no Google Wallet version of this pass. On Android phones, use the printable PDF, a printed QR code, or simply send the short link over WhatsApp or SMS.

When the pass is the right tool​

The pass is most useful when the code has to travel with a person rather than sit on a surface:

  • Mobile trades. A plumber, electrician or cleaner finishes a job and shows the code from the passenger seat of the van, with nothing to print or lose.
  • Table service. A server presents the pass with the bill instead of hunting for a card that walked off the table.
  • Front desk and counters. A receptionist keeps the pass one swipe away, which is faster than opening a browser and finding a link.
  • Markets, fairs and pop-ups. No stand, no stickers, no laminating.

For a fixed location that never moves, printed material still wins, because it works while nobody is standing there.

Put it in the Lock Screen reach

On the iPhone, passes are reachable from Wallet without unlocking. Practice showing it once so staff are not scrolling through cards in front of a customer.

Distributing the pass to your team​

There is no in-app way to send the pass to staff. Download the .pkpass file once and share the file itself: email it to each phone, AirDrop it in the staff room, or put it in your shared drive. Each person taps it and confirms.

If a team member changes phones, they download and install the file again. The pass is not tied to a person, so the same file works on any number of iPhones.

One pass per location

Every location produces its own pass with its own code. Give each team the pass for the location they work at, otherwise scans and ratings land against the wrong location in your dashboard.

If the download fails​

If Trustaroo reports that the Apple Wallet pass is unavailable, the signing certificate on the server is missing or expired. Nothing is wrong with your account or your location. Use the printable PDF or the QR code image in the meantime and contact support so the certificate can be renewed.
