Create a Google review QR code
Every location in Trustaroo has its own QR code that opens your review page. This guide shows you how to download that QR code as a PNG image and use it on printed and digital material. It takes about three minutes.
Before you start
- Add at least one location. See Add a location.
- Set the review page URL customers are sent to after a good rating. See Find your Google review link.
Steps
- Sign in at my.trustaroo.app.
- Open your business profile and scroll to the Locations panel.
- Find the row for the location you want, then select the Download QR action.
- The QR code dialog opens and shows the code for that location's short link. Use the download option in the dialog to save it as a PNG image.
- Close the dialog when you are done.
Trustaroo also offers the QR code at the end of the onboarding wizard, under Download QR code, and in the Share & Collect Reviews section of your business profile as Download QR Code for the profile as a whole.
Each location has its own short link of the form https://my.trustaroo.app/response/{shortId}, so each location has its own QR code. Scans and ratings stay separate per location, which is what makes the dashboard numbers meaningful.
What happens when someone scans it
The customer's phone camera opens your review page. If the review filter is on, they pick a rating from 1 to 5 stars: a rating at or above your threshold sends them to your external review page, and a lower rating opens a private feedback form instead. If the filter is off nobody is asked to rate and everyone goes straight to the external review page.
Printing the QR code
The downloaded PNG is a plain black-and-white code with no text around it, so it works well when you drop it into your own artwork: a menu, a poster, a flyer or a business card.
If you do not want to design anything, use the printable PDF instead. It already contains the QR code, a heading and a short scan instruction in English or Dutch, sized for A4, Letter or A5.
Print the code at least 2 by 2 cm (about 0.8 inch) for a code people scan from arm's length, and larger for a window or wall poster. Keep a clear white margin around all four sides so the camera can find the code.
The QR code encodes the location's Trustaroo short link, not your Google URL, so changing your review page URL keeps existing prints working. Archiving the location does not retire its short link either: printed codes keep opening the review page, so take the material out of circulation yourself.
Check that it works
Scan your own code with a phone before you print a hundred copies. Walk through the whole flow once, including the redirect, using Test your review link redirect. Your own test scans are recorded like any other, so expect to see them in the dashboard.
If a code will not scan at all, see QR code not scanning.
- Does the QR code expire?
- No. A location keeps the same short link and QR code for good, and the link still resolves after you archive the location.
- Can two locations share one QR code?
- No. Each location has its own short link so scans and ratings stay separate in the dashboard.
- In what format is the QR code downloaded?
- As a PNG image file. Use the printable PDF if you want a ready-to-print card instead of a bare image.
- Can I change the color of the QR code?
- Trustaroo generates a standard black-and-white code. Place it on a light background so the contrast stays high enough for phone cameras.
- Does scanning the code post a review on Google automatically?
- No. The customer rates you in Trustaroo first, then chooses to continue to your Google review page and writes the review there.
