Collect your first review in 10 minutes

This is the shortest working setup: account, review page URL, a test scan, and a printed QR code standing where customers pay. Ten minutes, no branding, no automation, nothing you have to undo later.

Before you start

  • The URL of the review page you want happy customers to reach. On Google that is the short review link from your Business Profile; see Find your Google review link.
  • A phone to test the flow, and a printer or a print shop for the last step.

Steps

  1. Register. Go to my.trustaroo.app and work through the onboarding questions: email, name, password, company name and review page URL. Paste your review page URL at the last question so you can skip step 2. (2 minutes, see Onboarding wizard.)
  2. Add the review page URL if you skipped it. Open Profile, select Location Defaults, fill in Review page URL and select Save. Leave Enable review filter on and leave Referral threshold at 4 stars. (1 minute.)
  3. Copy your link and test it. Open the Locations panel and select the copy icon on your location row to copy its short link. Open that link on your phone, give 5 stars, select Continue, then select the button on the thank-you page. Your Google or Trustpilot page should open. (2 minutes.)
  4. Test a low rating too. Open the link again, give 2 stars and check that you get the private feedback box instead. Submit anything; you can delete nothing, but a test rating in your own dashboard is harmless and proves the routing works. (1 minute.)
  5. Download the printable PDF. Still on the Locations panel, select the PDF icon on your location row. Choose Language and a Paper size of A4, Letter (US) or A5, then select Download. (1 minute, see Printable PDF.)
  6. Print it and put it out. One copy at the till is enough to start. Add tables, the waiting area or the invoice later. (3 minutes, see Where to place QR codes.)
Ask out loud as well

A QR code on the counter collects some ratings on its own, but the number roughly changes character when a member of staff says one sentence about it. See Asking in person.

Check it worked

Open Dashboard the next day. Your test scans and any real ones appear as Scans, with Average score and Referrals next to them, and the individual ratings and written feedback show up under Reviews. If scans are being recorded but nobody reaches your review page, the problem is almost always the review page URL; see Customers not redirected.

What to do next, in order

  1. Rename your location from Default to something recognizable.
  2. Add your contact email and phone so unhappy customers can reach you from the feedback page: Contact details on the feedback page.
  3. Put the link in your email signature: Email signature.
  4. Decide whether 4 stars is the right threshold for your business: Choosing your star threshold.
