Free plan location limit
Trustaroo's free plan allows two active locations. This page explains how the count works, what you see when you hit it, and the two ways past it. Two minutes.
How the count works
Only active locations count. A location is active until you archive it, so an account with five locations of which three are archived is using two of its two slots. Your first location was created for you during onboarding, which means a brand new account is already using one.
The Locations panel shows the count directly, in the form "1/2 locations used", above the table.
What happens at the limit
Once you have two active locations:
- The counter reads "2/2 locations used".
- A message appears: "You've reached the free plan limit (2 locations)."
- The Add Location button at the top right of the panel is disabled, and its tooltip explains that upgrading to Premium adds unlimited locations.
- An Upgrade to Premium button appears next to the message.
The limit is enforced by Trustaroo's server as well as by the button, so there is no way to create a third active location on the free plan.
The free plan includes two active locations. Premium removes the limit, so you can give every branch, van or channel its own short link, QR code and numbers.
Option 1: free a slot by archiving
If one of your two locations is no longer in use, archive it and the slot comes back immediately.
- Select Profile, then Locations.
- Select the archive icon on the row you no longer need.
- The counter drops back to "1/2 locations used" and Add Location becomes available.
There is no confirmation prompt and no un-archive button in the app. The reviews that location collected stay in your reports, but the row disappears from the panel along with its download buttons. Read Edit and archive locations before you do it.
Option 2: upgrade to Premium
Selecting Upgrade to Premium starts the Stripe checkout for a Trustaroo Premium subscription. Once it is active the counter and the limit disappear, and Add Location works for as many locations as you need. Premium also unlocks email automation and review page branding, so the location limit is rarely the only reason people take it. See Free vs Premium and Manage your subscription.
Making two locations go further
Two slots are enough for more businesses than you would expect, if you use them deliberately:
- Split by channel, not by room. One location for the QR codes in your venue and one for the link you send by email tells you which channel actually produces reviews. A separate location per table does not.
- Point both at the same review page. Locations do not need separate review destinations. Leave Review page URL empty on both and they inherit your default, so you get separate numbers into one Google profile. See Per-location overrides.
- Use one shared code for low-volume sites. If a third site produces a handful of customers a month, letting it share a location costs you little.
- Do archived locations count toward the free limit?
- No. Only active locations count, so archiving one frees a slot straight away.
- What happens to my extra locations if a Premium subscription ends?
- The locations and their reviews stay in your account. Adding new locations is limited again while your subscription is not active.
- Can two branches share one location?
- Yes, but their scans, ratings and reviews are merged into one set of numbers and both are sent to the same review page.
- Does the limit affect how many reviews I can collect?
- No. The free plan does not limit ratings, private feedback or referrals. Only the number of active locations is capped.
