Per-location overrides explained
Every location follows your business profile until you tell it not to. This page explains which settings inherit, how to override one branch without touching the rest, and why an empty field is a deliberate choice rather than a blank. Four minutes.
The rule in one line
If a location's field is empty or set to Use default from Location Defaults, Trustaroo uses the value from the Location Defaults panel. If the field has a value, that value wins for that location and that setting only.
What each field inherits
| Location field | If you leave it alone | If you fill it in |
|---|---|---|
| Review page URL | Uses the default review page URL | This location sends happy customers to its own review page |
| Redirect threshold | Uses the default referral threshold | This location uses your number, from 1 to 5 |
| Review filter | Uses the default filter setting | Enabled or Disabled for this location only |
| Contact email | Uses the default contact email | This location publishes its own address |
| Contact phone | Uses the default contact phone | This location publishes its own number |
| Show contact email | Uses the default visibility | Show or Hide for this location only |
| Show contact phone | Uses the default visibility | Show or Hide for this location only |
| Show location name to customers | Off | Adds the location name to your review page |
Show location name to customers is the exception: it is a plain toggle that belongs to the location and has no business-wide default.
Override one location
- Select Profile, then Locations.
- Select the edit icon on the row you want to change.
- Fill in only the fields that should differ. Every hint in the dialog says the same thing: "Leave empty to use the default from Location Defaults panel."
- Select Save, then read the Settings column for that row. It shows the resolved values, including Redirect threshold and whether the Review filter is on, so it is the quickest confirmation that the override took effect.
Emptying Review page URL on a location does not leave the old address in place. It hands that location back to your business-wide default, which may point somewhere else entirely.
Value and visibility fall back separately
Contact details have two layers, and each one falls back on its own. A location that fills in Contact email but leaves Show contact email on Use default from Location Defaults will publish its own address as soon as the business-wide visibility toggle is on. A location can also do the reverse: leave the address inherited and set visibility to Hide so that branch shows nothing.
Trustaroo also needs both halves before it displays anything. A visibility of Show with no address anywhere, at either level, results in nothing appearing on the feedback page. See Contact details on the feedback page.
When an override is worth it
- A branch with its own Google listing. Give it its own Review page URL so its reviews land on the right profile. This is the most common and most valuable override.
- A branch with a staffed phone line. Publish the number there and hide it elsewhere.
- A channel that should skip the rating step. Set Review filter to Disabled on a location you use purely as a shortcut to your review page.
- A different service level. A takeaway counter and a restaurant can justify different thresholds, though it makes the two harder to compare. See Choosing your star threshold.
If you find yourself setting the same override on every location, you are fighting your own default. Change it once on the Location Defaults panel and clear the overrides instead.
