Find your Google review link
Trustaroo sends happy customers to whatever URL you put in the Review page URL field. For Google, that URL has to open the write-a-review dialog directly. This guide shows you how to find it and what to do when the obvious link is the wrong one. It takes about five minutes.
Before you start
- You need a verified Google Business Profile that you can sign in to and manage. Without a verified profile there is no review link to hand out.
Get the share link
- Sign in to the Google account that manages the business.
- Open your Business Profile. Searching for your own business name while signed in usually surfaces the management panel directly; otherwise use the Business Profile manager.
- Look for the option about asking for or getting more reviews. Google places it among the promotion or sharing actions, and the exact wording and position change over time.
- Google shows a short link. Copy it. It normally has the form
https://g.page/r/CODE/review. - Paste it into a private browser window and check it opens the review dialog with a star selector, not just your business listing.
A link to your listing, a Google Maps place link, or the URL from your browser address bar is not a review link. Customers who land on the listing have to hunt for the review button, and most give up. Always verify the dialog opens before you use the link.
Fallback: build the URL from your place ID
If you cannot find the share option, you can build the URL yourself from the profile's place ID. Google's Place ID Finder, part of the Google Maps Platform documentation, returns the place ID for a business you search for. Once you have it, the review URL follows this pattern:
https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=YOUR_PLACE_ID
Replace YOUR_PLACE_ID with the identifier you looked up, then test it in a private window exactly as above. This URL form has been stable for years, but Google changes its properties without notice, so re-test if you ever see customers landing somewhere unexpected.
Paste it into Trustaroo
- Sign in at my.trustaroo.app and open your business profile.
- In the Location Defaults panel, paste the link into Review page URL. This is the default every location inherits.
- Select Save.
To send different branches to different Google profiles, set Review page URL on the individual location instead. A location with its own URL overrides the default, and an empty field falls back to it. See Per-location overrides.
If the review filter is on, only ratings at or above your threshold are sent here. Lower ratings open a private feedback form instead. With the filter off, everyone is sent to this URL.
Multiple locations on Google
Each physical branch has its own Google Business Profile and therefore its own review link. Set the matching link on each Trustaroo location; a shared default across branches sends reviews to the wrong profile and skews your ratings. See Multi-location setup.
- Why does my link open the business listing instead of the review box?
- You copied the listing or Maps URL rather than the review share link. Use the share link from the ask-for-reviews option, or the writereview URL built from your place ID.
- Do customers need a Google account to leave a review?
- Yes. Google requires a signed-in Google account to post a review. Most people on a phone are already signed in.
- Can I use the same Google review link for two locations?
- You can, but reviews for both branches then land on one Google profile. Give each branch its own profile and its own link instead.
- What happens if I change the review link later?
- New visitors go to the new URL immediately. Printed QR codes keep working because they encode your Trustaroo short link, not the Google URL.
- Do reviews posted on Google appear inside Trustaroo?
- No. Trustaroo records the rating a customer gave on your review page and whether they were redirected. The public review itself lives on Google.
